Frances Whittelsey joined us on Monday, February 12, 1996. From used cars to brand new clothes, women pay more than men for a variety of services and products. In "Women Pay More" Frances Whittelsey has created a pocket guide to unfair pricing practices and how women can avoid them. She taught us how to exercise our rights as informed and effective consumers, and negotiate better deals with retailers and service people.
Whittelsey is also the founder of "SHOP" (http://www.sis.org) the web's only ad-free, hype-free consumer news service/newsletter for women. They provide women the straight talk about products and services, how to get the most for your hard earned money, and guides to all kinds of consumer resources you may not even know existed.
Whittelsey has been as a consumer affairs reporter for Newsday and the New York Times. She is a winner of the George Polk Memorial Award for Public Service and co-author of the consumer guide "Better Times."
